Becoming a Kangaroo Father

 Becoming a Kangaroo Father
"I felt useless in the NICU until PIPNU showed me how to care for my son skin-to-skin. It helped my baby and it changed me as a father." When David’s son was born prematurely, he felt helpless watching nurses care for his tiny baby in the NICU. He wanted to help, but every attempt felt awkward and intimidating. That all changed when he joined PIPNU’s Kangaroo Mother Care program. Through guided training and support, David learned how to provide continuous skin-to-skin contact with his son. At first, he was nervous, but soon he felt the power of his touch—keeping his baby warm, calm, and thriving. Beyond the physical benefits, David discovered a deeper connection with his child. "I realized I wasn’t just a visitor in the NICU—I was an active part of my son’s survival and growth," he says. Today, David proudly carries his son close, knowing that his care makes a difference every day. PIPNU didn’t just teach him a technique; it transformed him into the father he always wanted to be.
